SpeakWisely (also written Speak Wisely) is a browser-based AI English speaking coach built for learners in India. You answer out loud, and it transcribes what you said, measures your pace, pauses and filler words, and gives feedback that quotes your own words. It includes Clara, an AI examiner who runs a spoken IELTS speaking mock and gives an estimated band, not an official one. There is a free plan with limits, and no card is needed to start.

This page is a description written by the SpeakWisely team at speakwisely.in. It is not an independent review. The facts come from the product and were checked on 3 November 2026. Plans can change, so the pricing page is the place to confirm current limits and prices.

Diagram of the SpeakWisely practice loop in four steps: speak out loud, the answer is transcribed and measured, you read feedback on your own words, then you try again.

What does SpeakWisely do?

Every session follows the same four steps, described in full on how it works:

  1. You speak. You answer a question, a task card or a role-play partner out loud, not by typing.
  2. It is transcribed and measured. Your words are recognised, and pace, pauses, filler words and repetition are measured from their timing.
  3. You read feedback on your own words. Grammar and vocabulary notes quote your transcript. IELTS practice shows an estimated band on the four criteria, and everyday practice uses a communication rubric.
  4. You try again. You can answer the same question again and compare. Mistakes become Review cards, and your progress is tracked over time.

Main features

These are the main tools, under the names the product uses. The complete list is on the features page.

  • IELTS mock with Clara: an AI examiner runs Parts 1, 2 and 3 out loud in about fifteen minutes.
  • Practice by part: choose Part 1, 2 or 3, a difficulty and a topic. You can be helped as you go or practise in exam conditions.
  • Daily coach: one speaking task a day, chosen from your skill profile, with a follow-up question about what you said.
  • Drills: 60-second exercises that each aim at one habit, such as filler words, pace or pauses.
  • Role-play: situations with an AI partner in a British, American, Australian or Indian accent.
  • Event prep: a rehearsal built around something coming up, such as an interview tomorrow.
  • Pronunciation lab: minimal pairs such as "vest" and "west", judged by which word was heard, not by your accent.
  • Say it better and Rehearse: your own sentences rewritten one CEFR level up, and unscored speaking practice.
  • Learning tools: short lessons, Sentence Builder, Tense practice, mistake patterns and Review cards.

You choose your first language from 29 named options, including Hindi, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu, or select "another language". Mistakes can then be linked to how your first language works, and explanations can be given in a named language.

Who is SpeakWisely for?

  • Learners in India who read and write English reasonably well but struggle when they have to speak it.
  • People preparing for the IELTS speaking test who want to practise the format out loud.
  • Job seekers and working people rehearsing interviews, work calls and everyday conversation.

Who is SpeakWisely not for?

  • Anyone who needs an official score. Bands are practice estimates. They cannot be used for admission, a visa or a job.
  • Complete beginners. The lowest self-reported level in the product is "I can talk about familiar things, but I often search for words". If you are not there yet, a beginner course may suit you better first.
  • People who want IELTS Reading, Writing or Listening practice. The IELTS tools cover speaking only.
  • People who want a human teacher. The feedback comes from software, not from a teacher.
  • People who cannot or would rather not speak aloud. Practice is answered out loud and needs a working microphone and a browser that can record audio.
  • People who want an offline or app store app. It runs in a browser and needs an internet connection to process your answers. We do not list a native app on the app stores.
  • Learners of other languages. It teaches English only.
  • Children using it alone. It is meant for adults. Anyone under 18 should use it only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian.

If one of these describes you, our comparison of AI apps for English speaking practice lists other options, including where they do better than SpeakWisely.

The pricing page states that nothing is charged automatically, and that when a plan ends you go back to Free and keep what you made.

Are SpeakWisely IELTS bands accurate or official?

They are not official. Every band is an estimate produced by software, inspired by the public IELTS speaking criteria. Your real band is given only by a certified examiner on test day. The AI model is not asked for a score. Your speech is measured, issues are found as quoted evidence, and a fixed rubric turns the evidence into bands, so the same evidence leads to the same band.

That makes the method consistent, but it does not guarantee that an estimate will match a real test result, and the transcript can mishear you. The method and its limits are set out in how SpeakWisely estimates an IELTS speaking band. You can read general guidance on AI feedback in how to learn to speak English with AI.

What happens to recordings on SpeakWisely?

Your recording is used only to transcribe your answer, then deleted within 15 minutes. SpeakWisely keeps your transcript and results, never the audio. In Rehearse, the audio stays in your browser unless you ask to see your words.

The quickest way to judge it is to answer one question out loud and read the feedback on your own words. It is free, with no card.
