How SpeakWisely works: you speak, it listens, you improve.
SpeakWisely is an AI speaking coach in your browser. You answer out loud; it transcribes what you said, measures how you said it, and shows you exactly what to fix, with an estimated IELTS band when you are preparing for the test.
What happens from sign-up to your report?

No card, nothing to install. SpeakWisely runs in a modern browser on a laptop or a phone; you need a microphone and a quiet spot.
Tell it what you are practising for
Choose a goal, your level and your first language. Practice is picked to match, and explanations can point to how your first language works.
Speak your answer out loud
Answer a question, a task card or a role-play partner by speaking, not typing. You can ask Clara to repeat a question; asking never counts as an answer.
Your speech is transcribed and measured
The words you said are recognised, and fluency is measured from their timing: pace, pauses, filler words and repetition. Grammar and vocabulary issues are found and quoted from your own transcript.
You get a report you can act on
For IELTS practice: an estimated band on the four speaking criteria, the evidence behind it, a plan and a model answer. For everyday practice: feedback on a communication rubric and a follow-up question.
Try again and see what changed
Answer the same question again and compare. Your mistakes become review cards, and your progress is tracked over time.
Which kind of practice is right for me?
There are two ways in. Most people use both.
- Preparing for IELTS
- Sit a full spoken mock with Clara, an AI examiner, in about fifteen minutes, or practise a single part. Choose to be helped as you go, or exam conditions. IELTS speaking practice
- Speaking better every day
- One short speaking task a day, 60-second drills, role-plays and pronunciation practice, for work, interviews and everyday life. Everyday English speaking practice
How is the band worked out?
The AI model is not asked for a score. Your speech is measured, the model finds issues as quoted evidence, and a fixed rubric turns that evidence into bands, so the same evidence always leads to the same band.
AI-estimated assessment inspired by IELTS speaking criteria. Not an official IELTS or IDP result. The full method, and its limits, is in how SpeakWisely estimates an IELTS speaking band.
What happens to my recordings?
Your recording is processed and then deleted. It is never stored — only your transcript and results are kept.
